You and your loved ones may have planned out every last detail of your wedding, right down to who’s making the first toast and where the extra stationery cards are. That said, too often unexpected events transpire at most inconvenient times during the big day. To put your mind at ease, we have compiled a comprehensive list of items to go into your very own bridal emergency kit! Take a look at how you can help your big day run smoothly as possible:

Clothing

So much goes into the bride’s preparation for the big day, but clothing is one of the more visible parts. Keep your outfit pristine throughout the day with the following items:

  • Tide-to-Go or some other stain remover
  • White chalk to cover up stains that can’t be removed with Tide-to-Go
  • Sewing kit with thread the color of your dress as well as that of your bridesmaids (make sure scissors are included)
  • Fabric tape for hems that come undone or items that didn’t make it to the tailor
  • Heel protectors for outdoor weddings
  • Flat shoes to change into
  • A pair of extra hose
  • Lighter to stop fraying ribbons or hems
  • Lint roller

Toiletries

Stray hairs, headaches, and even the most garlicky of appetizers are no match for your emergency kit.

  • Lotion for your skin as well as flyaway hairs, if you’ve run out of hairspray
  • Blotting papers to keep the T-zone in check
  • Sunscreen; even if your wedding is indoors, you might be going outside for photos
  • Tweezers
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss
  • Razor
  • Baby powder for absorbing excess moisture and keeping dresses from chafing
  • Extra contact lenses and solution
  • Perfume

Hair, Makeup, and Nails

Your look will be immaculate all day long if you bring along the following security pieces:

  • Bobby pins in multiple colors
  • Humidity-resistant hairspray
  • Comb or brush
  • Small mirror
  • Chapstick
  • Waterproof mascara
  • Lipstick
  • Other makeup for touching up throughout the day
  • Makeup removing wipes/gel
  • Q-tips for correcting makeup
  • Nail file and clippers
  • Nail polish of a matching shade
  • Clear nail polish for touching up a manicure and stopping runs in stockings
  • Extra earring backs

First Aid

You never know when allergies or other little mishaps will strike.

  • Bandaids for blisters
  • Benadryl for allergies
  • Antiseptic ointment
  • Prescribed medications
  • Pain reliever of your choice
  • Antacid
  • Eye drops
  • Hand sanitizer

Other

A few miscellaneous items to appease your wedding day concerns:

  • Contact information for all vendors
  • Phone numbers of everyone in the wedding party
  • Addresses of anywhere you are going
  • Copy of vows
  • Phone chargers and/or backup batteries
  • Super glue for fixing shoes, jewelry, and anything else
  • Snacks that will not stain and will deliver sustainable energy (non-chocolate protein bars are a good choice)
  • Water
  • Straws for keeping your lipstick flawless
  • Mints
  • Tissues
  • Unscented or naturally-scented bug spray
