Working at Seabrook Island Weddings means getting to see behind-the-magic South Carolina wedding moments every single day. Each wedding we have the honor of taking part in is memorable in its own way, but lately, we keep going back to Margaret Kyle and Kyle’s coastal destination wedding at our Seabrook Island Club wedding venue in South Carolina that was featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs.
The couple had been discussing getting married for some time, but Kyle took steps to ensure that the proposal itself was a complete surprise to Margaret. Her ring was being made by the same jeweler her father had used to design her mother’s ring more than 30 years ago, and Kyle told his soon-to-be fiancée that it wouldn’t be finished for a while longer.
While en route to Charleston for a friend’s wedding, Kyle and Margaret made a stop in Greenville where the future groom’s father lives. At an elegant French restaurant overlooking the river, Kyle got down on one knee and proposed.
From there, Charleston was a top pick for their destination wedding. They knew that they wanted something understated, yet elegant and the easy-going coastal Charleston vibe fit the description. Margaret’s aunt and uncle were happily married at the Seabrook Island Club as well, which made the couple begin to lean towards our oceanfront wedding venue near Charleston with its ceremonial lines of palm trees.
Luckily for Seabrook Island Weddings, the couple decided upon our oceanfront wedding venue near Charleston for their special celebration. On the day of the wedding, Lindsay Merhege of Fox Events brought the couple’s soft and classical vision to life at our Ocean Terrace and Atlantic Ballroom. Jennings King Photography expertly captured it all, right down to the couple’s two Australian shepherds, Stella and Trooper!
When asked about their favorite parts of the wedding, Margaret responded that the eloquent and heartfelt sermon that their minister delivered at sunset was one of many memories that she will cherish. Her parting words to other couples planning their nuptials? Hire a good wedding planner!
